Latvian women are known to be some of the most beautiful in the Baltics. Compared to her northern Finnic speaking neighbor in Estonia, coming into Latvia means you’re actually in the Baltic speaking lands with one of the strangest languages in Europe and even stranger people. Latvia has beautiful nature, and like her sister countries, it’s no surprise the majority of the country is actually countryside lush with forests and Baltic coastline.
Latvia is the most “Russified” of the Baltic states and will find many Russian speakers, both local and tourist in the cities. The Latvian population itself is small at just under 2 million, and technically even smaller at 1.2 million if you only count ethnic Latvians. If you’re coming into the country by bus, you’ll be greeted by a beautiful coastline of the Baltic Sea and the twists and turns of forests lining up the country. Coming into Riga directly from the airport you’ll see some Soviet-style architecture intermingled with Hanseatic German old town vibes and some modernist concrete mini-jungles.
Riga itself is a majestic city, rivaling Prague and Budapest in its splendor. Despite the Soviet occupation, Riga still retains its medieval northern atmosphere. It’s no surprise that there are floods of tourists passing through here.
While Latvians aren’t crazy about Russians, unlike the Estonians, they do seem to tolerate them a bit more. The Russians in Riga are more cheerful and less closed off than in Estonia. If you’re doing business with Russians in Riga, be careful as there is a slight scamming element, especially since there are so many tourists. Taxis, housing and nightlife are the common scam attempts (both among locals and Russians).
If you keep your wits about you, screen well, and especially if you have Russian language ability, you should be able to avoid the scams. If something feels off, just walk away. There’s always another opportunity. I don’t want to paint all the people of Latvia like this, but for some reason it feels shadier than in say Estonia or Russia itself. While I understand times can be rough, and dumb, drunk foreigners carry lots of lucky charms, I’d still prefer to deal honestly. Ronald Reagan’s “trust but verify” comes to mind here.
Latvian Women: How They Look
Latvian girls, despite having a different language, are aesthetically actually similar to Estonian girls. They have this tall, slim Nordic/Slavic mix of a look with cute but not perfect faces. There’s a small hipster element present, especially apparent in bars, but girls are generally normal.
You’ll generally find they have medium to very long hair, in many natural shades with light skin and eyes. If they weren’t Baltic, you’d think they were Scandinavian.
Now despite that, the stunners I saw in Latvia, at least on my radar, were the Russian girls. I don’t know if it’s their dress, demeanor, genetics or what, but overall when I felt my blood boil it would be when a Russian girl walked by. Your mileage may vary and you may prefer the locals. A friend of mine who has spent some time in Riga can’t stand the Russians but seems to like the local hipsters. In general though, there are plenty of Latvian girls in the 7 range, which makes for an overall pleasant atmosphere, girl-wise.
Latvian Women – Their Personality: Brains With That Brawn
There isn’t as much of a modernist, feminist careerist mentality among Latvian girls compared to their neighbors. This makes their personalities more pleasant to deal with. They like banter and ultimately feeling feminine. Unlike their Estonian sisters, they don’t feel as compelled to ally with the “Nordic” mentality or be a modern overachiever. They’re intelligent and well-read but seem to have a bit of a submission to fate that actually makes them feel more feminine.
That said, they’re more western than eastern oriented and it reflects in their dress and sexual attitude. Like Estonians, they’re open to sex so long as their social circle/reputation is not at stake. You can find somewhat religious girls, usually in 2nd tier cities, where sex is slower. Less religious girls seem to be in Riga, but there seems to be a mix of fast and slow as well.
The easiest girls will be from the hipster clubs who show a clear western orientation. Some are cute, but you’ll generally find the tattooed, chubbier girls here.
In terms of responses, Latvian girls are very friendly and chatty. Their English is good (generally worse if they’re Russian-Latvian) and can take banter pretty well. Some of them are desperate to leave Latvia, others seem to accept their situation pretty well, and still others don’t even care. In Riga especially, foreigners are part of the package, so while a girl may still be interested in where you’re from, for her it doesn’t matter so much as there are tons of opportunities to meet foreigners every day from every place.
Most crucial when it comes to Latvian girls, is can you not only form an emotional, but an intellectual connection? Lots of Latvian girls are well read, and like their Russian sisters, interested in the finer things in life. I found conversing with Latvian girls to be very easy, like speaking with a Russian but with a better command of English. Latvian girls are like those bubbly university girls who are open but not quite naughty yet.
Best Cities in Latvia for Latvian Women & Dating
Riga is a decent-sized country by landmass, very tiny by population, and even tinier in population by city. For this reason, the capital of Riga is the most logical choice as it’s the easiest to get to, whether by ground transport or plane, and has the most English speakers. With a population of about 620,000 and a large transient tourist base, it’s also the city where you most likely will find some action.
Nearby Riga is the Baltic coast with the resort beach town of Jurmala. During the summers you’ll encounter lots of locals and foreigners looking to enjoy the summer atmosphere at the sea. Depending on your itinerary and interests, you can spend your time here or back and forth between Riga, as they’re only 20km away from each other. The native population is quite small, so you’re relying on tourists to provide the volume.
After Riga, the population of the cities in Latvia drop dramatically. Daugavpils, the second largest is about 80,000. Liepaja and Jelgava are even less. If you really want to get out of Riga and explore these second tier cities, I’ll warn you by saying the daygame is very sparse, though there will be some nightclubs in the center to try your luck. You’ll find more suspicious locals and conservative girls. If you’re interested in a long term relationship, this alternative to the tourist hordes of Riga may be a viable option.
Nightlife in Riga
Nightlife is booming in Riga and you’ll find no shortage of girls in clubs. Some of the central bars and clubs in Riga can give off a P4P or scamming element, but if you’ve traveled enough in central/eastern Europe, you can pick up on the tells. Never let the girl lead, choose the venue or put drinks on your tab. Always be in control, and don’t let her beauty shut down your reasoning.
While scams can happen by either Russians or Latvians, having some knowledge of Russian helps in some places as it can help mitigate scams. If you’re not a clueless thirsty sex tourist expat wide-eyed dummy, you may not be worth the time and effort it would take to scam you. That said, be careful when it comes to taxis. Always choose from a reputable company and avoid the shady taxis that come to you.
While nightlife is booming, it can be hit or miss for ratios and available sets depending on where you go. The curse of stags, sex tourists, expat groups and the like can make the beautiful Old Town of Riga something of an eyesore, not unlike Prague in high tourist season. You can try the bars and clubs in the Old Town Centre, as you never know what a certain night will bring you, but in general I’d try and get out a bit to the “New Riga” where more of the locals would go. You may have to walk a bit or taxi in. You’ll find a mix of hipster bars and lounges, with chatty locals.
Daygame in old towns is fun, until you meander in circles and run into the same people after a while. If you’re a spammer, you won’t have much fun as the volume just isn’t there compared to a proper 1 million-plus city.
I recommend, like in all small towns, to be aware of what’s going on and notice if the girl gives you a positive signal to approach. If you’re doing low volume you should be OK with cold approach, but it’s very easy to burn out a small city in a day game session. A good alternative to the Old Town is walking to the “New Riga” with all the business centers, shopping malls and more modern architecture. If not for the daygame, then just to get a different energy than the same old town day in and day out.
Unlike some other places, Riga doesn’t seem to have as much of a bootcamp PUA problem. You’ll find other daygamers wandering around, but the responses from the girls seem to be generally positive. Same day lays are possible, but expect to go on 1-2 dates before sealing the deal.
Meeting Latvian Women Online
Online dating is not big in Latvia. There are two options for online dating in Latvia that are worth a look:
1. Russian Cupid should be your go-to dating website for meeting Russian girls online who live in Latvia.
2. International Cupid will be the only solid option for meeting local Latvian women who reside in Latvia. This dating site is also great if you plan to travel throughout the Baltics or greater Europe as it provides you to meet local women in all countries who are looking to meet foreigners.
Conclusion on Latvian Women
Latvia is a medium-sized country with a small population and laid back provincial attitude. The local girls are friendly enough, despite the flood of tourists. Nightlife in Riga can provide many opportunities if you’re in the right place at the right time. Daygame is a bit lazier compared to other cities but very much doable. The girls are attractive but not necessarily stunners. You’ll find an easy stream of 7s walking around.
The smaller cities and towns are not very conducive to game but may provide you with an opportunity to meet a girl suitable for a long term relationship. In that sense, Latvia is similar to the other Baltic countries in terms of game and atmosphere.
